Last Autumn I did the botanical and floral styling for Girl on the Wing’s Fall lookbook and I’m thrilled to be setting up shop at Whitney McKmeekin’s adorable storefront this Friday and Saturday. Whitney posted the sweetest little blog about it and how our main incentive is bringing a glimpse of Spring to Hamilton to brighten up these winter blues. It’s a ‘treat-yourself’ to the luxury of fresh flowers weekend!
I’m hovered over my dining room table in my little cabin of a house, hustling to get everything ready for the flower frenzy. Today was a crafting day where my sweet neighbour Katie came by to help me make some bunting for the window signage. I did the measuring and cutting but left all the illustrating to her. She has the best penmanship of anyone I know.
I then moved on to the repetitive task of stamping recycled paper for tags. I realized through this process that stamping is an art. How do you know how much pressure to apply each time? I’m not very good at it. I think I’ll stick to flowers. Every stamp is its own statement. Bold. Subtle. Smudged. I kind of like that though, it’s more me to have everything just a little off. So imperfect tags it is!
If you are in the area this weekend, stop by International Village, say hello and gift yourself with some blooms. Plus some other cool things happening botany related in the Hamilton area this weekend:
Seedy Saturday - There’s an awesome seed exchange and sale happening at Pioneer Memorial Church, 1974 King St. East at 10:00am this Sat. (I’d be there if I wasn’t’ surrounded by flowers)
Orchid Show at the Royal Botanical Gardens this Sat. and Sunday (In theory I will attend but knowing me I will be recovering from the weekend with a Sunday sleep-in, coffee and garden planning for when this snow melts)
